New Mexico – The Land of Enchantment

Jeff and I got married in Albuquerque, NM almost 25 years ago when we were both teaching at the same high school there.  One of our favorite parts about living there, in addition to the amazing food, was the hot air balloons that were so common to see.  The annual Balloon Fiesta is held in October of each year, and we really wanted to make it there in time to see it this year.  After we left Kansas City, we stopped in Tulsa to spend some time with my parents, and then had them ride with us to ABQ.  We got to use our guest room again. 🙂   It was so nice to have them travel with us.

The first morning we woke up early, like 4:00am early, and went down onto the balloon field.  It was cold but super fun to be right there surrounded by all the balloons.

After spending the morning watching balloons, we spent the afternoon driving up to Sandia Crest and enjoying the view.

The next morning we watched the balloons from Rio Rancho near where we were parked in a friend’s yard.  Thanks Glenn!!

We spent one day in Santa Fe and looking around.  It was a wonderful day.

Eating lunch at La Fonda

We are so thankful for our friend Glenn who allowed us to park in his yard for a couple of weeks, and then in the street in front of his house for a couple of days after going to empty our tanks.  It’s been an amazing visit.
