Using our guest room – Friends visiting in Pennsylvania & Virginia

We love the floor plan of our fifth-wheel.  We chose this plan so that our son would have his own room while he was traveling with us, but now that he’s moved out, we have a dedicated guest room with its own half-bath.

We love having friends and family come to stay with us.  We had our friend Jennifer from Kansas City stay for a week while we were in southern NY and northern PA.  We visited Lake Ontario, the Finger Lakes area of NY, and the spent a few days in the Hershey and Lancaster area.

We were also able to visit the New Paltz, NY area where we learned more about Jeff’s genealogy.  His mom spent years researching the family history and learned that in her lineage and Jeff’s dad’s lineage there were common ancestors. Two sisters had lived in New Paltz in the 1600’s and had married and lived across the street from each other. The two houses are still there, as this area is now preserved as the historic Huguenot Street.  It was fun to see the houses and some of the family markers in the small cemetery there.

After Jennifer flew home, we moved on to the Williamsburg, VA area and had a week before my college roommate Kerrie and her family came to visit.  We enjoyed our spot at the Thousand Trails RV resort there because it was in the back where it was nice and quiet.

We were able to spend a day touring the Jamestown colony and archaeological dig. It was very fascinating how they survived in an area with no fresh water.  They archaeologists had discovered a skeleton buried under the front part of the church just the week before we were there.  It was very fun to talk to them.

When Kerrie and her family came, we spent several days at Busch Gardens and had a blast!  We also spent time at the campground swimming, playing mini-golf, and just hanging out together.  Having friends come to visit us all over the country is such a blessing.  We’d love to see more of you!
